Basic recipe  You need one of the following to act as a base of your DIY shampoo: Cornstarch Arrowroot flour Rye flour  Hopefully you've got one of these in your kitchen cupboard and once you've found them, you're good to go.  Take two teaspoons of your powder and mix until smooth. Dark hair  Those of you with dark hair will know the struggle of using dry shampoo as it can give you - if you're not careful - grey or white streaks.  After a while dry shampoo brands caught on and developed a range for different coloured hair but if you're looking for a solution at home you can simple add a little cocoa to the mix.  Add two teaspoons of cocoa powder to the mix from the basic recipe and you're good to go.  Likewise for those with black hair, use a little charcoal - but experiment with the amount as you don't need a lot.   Charcoal can also prevent dandruff from building up, according to a study. Red hair  Red heads just need to add a little cinnamon to the powder from the basic recipe.  Add 1/2 teaspoon at a time to match the colour as best as you can.  If it needs to be a little darker, add a little cocoa powder too.   Cinnamon can help to promote hair growth, according to this study. Light hair  There are no additional ingredients to add to the basic recipe for those with light hair.  But, we recommend using Arrowroot flour for the best results.  For the best application use a powder brush - an old, but clean make-up brush will
