Warts can be very difficult to treat. Most treatments consist of liquid nitrogen and salicylic acid. These treatments damage the top layer of skin where the wart lives but unfortunately warty tissue is very tough and sometimes the treatment cant damage the warty tissue. These topical treatments normally need multiple sessions weekly and can take months to resolve.
For this patient, due to the significant amount of treatment in the past that has caused more damage to the area, we will be surgically removing this plantar wart. This will give us the highest chance of success with just one treatment.
We will be spending the next 2 months watching the healing of this area to ensure no wart regrowth occurs.
