Portland police declare unlawful assembly near Justice Center Protesters calling for police reforms and an end to discrimination against black Americans are marching and gathering in Portland again Saturday for the 10th consecutive night, part of a wave of unrest that has spread across the globe.
In downtown Portland on Saturday, June 6, 2020 several groups gathered at various spots, including Terry Shrunk Plaza and Lownsdale Square, eventually marching to Pioneer Courthouse Square, where they listened to a series of speakers.
After what police said were demonstrators throwing projectiles including fireworks, glass bottles, blades, mortars, batteries, frozen water bottles and ball bearings, a civil disturbance and unlawful assembly was declared from about 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., and orders to disperse were given.
