1) A work permit is issued by DBEI.
2) Visas are issued by the Department of justice and equality (Immigration department).
For Dublin and county Dublin it is located nearby city center - (used to call GNIB), Burgh Quay, Dublin. For the rest of the country... The immigration department is at the local Garda Station (police station).
(Often people get confused between a work permit and visa).
After obtaining a work permit one has to go to the nearest immigration office for getting a visa stamped on passport.
Whatever stamp it might be, it is given by an immigration officer.
Whatever work permit might be, it is given by DBEI.
All work permits granting time depending on various factors n time frames.
Ex: trusted partner employer n other employers.
If a person grabbed critical skills work permit... Dependents (spouse /partner and children) are eligible for joining them immediately. Either they can come along with permit holders (in case of an application made from their country of residence) or can join whenever they want to.
But whereas for general work permit holders, dependent/s can apply for join visa only after one year of completion of general work permit.
Critical skills work permit holders dependent can work in Ireland immediately after reaching Ireland (jus basic registration should be done with the immigration department) who are granted stamp1g (dependent) visa.
To get work right, Dependents of general work permit holders can work if they secure a job and work permit granted by DBEI.
Only spouse /partner and children are eligible to join a spouse visa. Parents are not permitted to join the spouse category for both work permit holders.
