ASU+GSV: Why most companies still don’t have diversity at the top - Yael Gilboa Kaufmann, Learn In

ASU+GSV: Why most companies still don’t have diversity at the top - Yael Gilboa Kaufmann, Learn In WorkingNation interviews leaders in public, private, and nonprofit spheres attending the ASU+GSV Virtual Summit 2020, as part of our #WorkingNationOverheard campaign.

Yael Gilboa Kaufmann is the COO and co-founder of Learn In, a company that encourages and helps companies upskill existing employees rather than seek new hires from the outside.

She says that down the road, upskilling or reskilling won’t just be a one-time intervention, but, rather, a unilateral reality, and one that is especially important given “the skills gap is not going away.”

And while some companies are currently making policy to address diversity and inclusion, doing so more aggressively is the key to an inclusive recovery, but also to breaking existing shortcomings at the top of organizations.

“A lot of the results that we don't see at the top of the organization is a function of the fact that a lot of companies don't necessarily know to invest in those underrepresented groups while they are employees, to invest in them with management training, with leadership training, with all the upskilling that the company needs to achieve both their business outcomes, but also their D and I objectives.”

Gilboa Kaufmann was interviewed for our #WorkingNationOverheard series in partnership with the ASU+GSV’s Virtual Summit 2020, held from September 29 through October 1+October 8.
