The Secret To Improve The Quality Of Your Life

The Secret To Improve The Quality Of Your Life All things that exist were first a thought.
All thoughts do not become things, but all things were primarily thoughts.
Mahatria says that a person’s average net worth can be determined by the ten most-dominant relationship in their life.
This is how your thoughts are eventually influenced. As Buddha also beautifully emphasises the same - 'Sangam saranam gacchami'.
Whether you have scarcity-thinking, abundant thinking, or believe you can achieve legendary things largely depends on the company you keep.
Being influenced is inevitable. What we can control, however, is the support system we choose, and the fallbacks we rely on.

All things that exist were first a thought. Before having a fundraising event, you thought about it. Before providing people with vocational courses, the idea was a thought in your head. Your educational institution started with an idea. All thoughts do not become things, but all things were primarily thoughts, Mahatria points out.

Most often than not, your circumstances have a bearing on your thoughts, Mahatria says.
Citing research from a Kellogg School of Management report, Mahatria says that a person’s average net worth can be determined by the ten most-dominant relationship in their life. If people around you want to settle for a mediocre life, then you too will tread down that path. Whether you have scarcity-thinking, abundant thinking, or believe you can achieve legendary things depends on the company you keep.

The Paradox of Self-Confidence

When everything in life is going well, you will have complete faith in yourself. However, when life begins to go awry, you start believing things that others tell you. How else can you explain someone’s sudden blind faith in Vasthu or numerology, Mahatria questions.
These ideas germinate in your mind because you have people around you who believe in it. Even the most logical person, who believed that poor results in business are a consequence of ill-devised strategy or incompetent competition management, may start having illogical doubts.
For instance, if a person who falls sick regularly takes the advice of a friend to introduce “vastu-friendly” things into their surroundings like bamboo shoots or a fish tank, they may completely disregard the importance of exercise or consulting a doctor.

It is easy to fall prey to what people around you tell you when you are vulnerable.

Mind Your Company

People tell you what they know, Mahatria says. If you are stressed and walk into an Infintheism workshop, you will be advised to meditate. On the other hand, a friend may suggest going to Bangkok, for that is a stress buster to them. Another may gift you alcohol. This does not mean that they are necessarily trying to ruin your life. It is simply a solution to your problem that seems most plausible to them.

This is how your thoughts are eventually influenced. As Buddha said, Sangam saranam gacchami, which loosely translates to, take refuge in your company. The people you surround yourself with most often have the power to influence your thoughts, and thereby, your actions.
Take Kaikeyi from Ramayana. Her love for Rama trumped her love for her own son, Bharata. Yet, she allowed her nurse, Manthara, to enter her thoughts and change her thinking. Within a few minutes, her love for Rama vanished and ego took over.

The same goes for Mahabharata. Duryodhana allowed Shakuni to call the shots for him, thereby leading to a full-blown war. Arjuna, on the other hand, had Krishna to fall back on. While he could have gone down the path of destruction as well, his true greatness was restored, thanks to Krishna.

Who? What? When?

Your life is a manifestation of your thoughts. When you are examining the quality of your life, also ask yourself, who has an influence on you. Check the kind of books you are reading. Do you wake up every morning and read negative news?

Instead, look for people and things that uplift your thoughts, that restore your faith in good things and good people, that make you want to take life head on, Mahatria advises. The ten percent of bad things makes the news.

Every time you notice your life going downhill, ask what your fallback is. Is your stand-in support an Arjuna-equivalent or a Shakuni-equivalent? Are you in company who makes you love life a little more or in company who makes you hate life a little more? Are you pessimistic or more optimistic about the future?
If you want to change how your life is, change the quality of your thoughts. Begin by vetting what influences your thoughts – trade in all the negative influences for positive influences.
