'Marks of Mana' Pt 4 looks at the original legend of Tatau in Samoa intended for women, and the first female Tufuga tatau who has been gifted the tools of the au again. This documentary looks at the history of the malu and tatau for women across the Pacific as these ancient patterns move into the modern day. The meanings of these age old marks for women have often been overlooked by the dominant male tatau culture, but are now being brought to light in these beautiful stories. From the malu of Samoa, to the Moko Kauae in Aotearoa, the tep tok markings of Papau New Guinea and the lost tatau for women in Fiji, the Cook Islands and Tonga, 'Marks of Mana' explores these ancient marks that are being re-imagined in different ways across the Moana.
